Ecology - Our motto is: MAN AND NATURE IN EXCELLENT INTERACTIONNEOCHIM PLC Dimitrovgrad, Bulgaria aims at preserving the harmony in the relationship between Man and Nature. The up-to-date facilities render the company's production processes most friendly towards the environment in comparison with other similar plants in Bulgaria. The production processes are under constant control. The ecological standards are constantly monitored in order to maintain a clean environment. Neochim PLC has invested substantial financial means in renovation and improvement of technological lines at the old production facilities to render them conformable to the requirements of the international ecological standards. In 1995 at the Formalin Plant an installation for neutralizing the exhaust gas was put into operation which has an excellent ecological effect. During the same year an additional unit was commissioned designed for capturing the exhaust gasses from the installation producing ammonia. In order to be as much ethical as possible in our relations with the public in the town and the municipality of Dimitrovgrad Neochim PLC had introduced equipment for constant automatic monitoring of the pollutants emitted by us into the air from fixed source points, in compliance with the requirements of Ordinance No.6 of 26 th March 1999. Neochim PLC has closed down the production facilities for sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, triple superphosphate, nitrobenzol, aniline and dimethylsulphate which polluted the environment in the past. With the financial support and thanks to the organization of Neochim PLC unique Investigation of Maritsa River was carried out on the territory of the Municipality of Dimitrovgrad. In response to the requirements of the environmental legislation of the Republic of Bulgaria in year 2000 a report was issued on Evaluation of the Impact on the Environment and a report on Evaluation of the Damage Caused by Previous Pollutions. By Resolution No.78-21 of 2000 of the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources Neochim PLC was granted a permit for the operation of all of its functioning technological production facilities. In accordance with the clauses of this Resolution 78-21/2000 we are implementing two programmes: 1. A programme for rendering the production activities of Neochim PLC conformable to the environmental legislation in the Republic of Bulgaria. 2. A programme for eliminating the damage resulting from previous pollution. The time limit for completing these programmes is 2005 - 2006. Their financing is guaranteed and the work-schedule is abided by strictly. In connection with the negotiations Bulgaria is holding for the standardization of our legislation with the legislation of the European Union in its Ecology section, we have provided what has been required from us. We have applied for and we have been granted a Pilot Complex Permit (since 15 th Jan. 2003) for the company's operation in compliance with European Directive 96/61 (EU) on Complex Pollution Prevention and Control. Currently the company is in a position to meet the most exacting ecological requirements of its present and potential customers.
